ENVISIONING THE MOST SUSTAINABLE HOTEL IN THE CARIBBEAN
Émeraude St. Barth
In an unspoiled atmosphere of lush tropical greenery, on the sun-kissed white-sand beach of the iconic St. Jean Bay, blossoms the unique and glamorous Émeraude St. Barth, on the site of the former Émeraude Plage hotel, well known to the St. Barths'.
With 30 years of history in St. Barth and acknowledging what is important for the island’s future, we are deeply committed to protecting its natural resources, blue waters, reefs, and natural flora and fauna that make up our beautiful home.
Carefully designed by the award-winning sustainable French architecture studio AW2, accompanied by local and international environmental experts and marine scientists working hand-in-hand with the local Collectivité, we are recreating on the site of the former Émeraude Plage the most sustainable hotel in the Caribbean, a tranquil garden along the sea that is respectful of our island’s precious ecosystem.
This hotel will be built from the ground up using state-of-the-art bioclimatic and regenerative architecture, relying on natural breezes over air conditioning, a zero-waste kitchen, no plastics and use mother-nature’s generous offerings: rainwater and solar energy.
The 3 villas and 10 Cases à vent, impeccably thought-out spaces, honor a fresh and vibrant, yet peaceful, Caribbean style, capturing the timeless charm of St Barts. Its chic setting seamlessly relaxes the boundary between indoors and outdoors for the true experience of the island’s local ambiance, allowing nostalgia to meet with new souvenirs.

Émeraude St. Barth defines a new hospitality concept and offers special attention to detail, creating the perfect level of service that is gleaned through a deep understanding the senses and emotions of our guests. A place integrating in harmony with the canvas of St. Jean’s Bay to create a moment that matters.
Honoring St Barth local architecture, our cottages take their essence from the Caribbean “Cases à vent.” Dating from the 18th century, the wind huts were built with coral, mancenilla wood and reclaimed wood. Crafted to channel the wind, they were the homes of people living «Au vent».
Today, with the perfect balance between our heritage, contemporary design and an eco-conscious approach, Émeraude St. Barth reintroduces the bespoke Case à vent, in tune with nature, made with local materials, with timeless and casual elegance.
Emeraude St. Barth is being created with extensive community input, emphasizing the vital importance of local perspectives in shaping this very special place. We believe reconnecting to St. Barth's essence is not only about capturing the natural beauty and cultural richness of this remarkable island but also about forging a strong bond with the community and environment that define its unique character.

The essence of St. Barth lies in its pristine landscapes, vibrant traditions, and the warm hospitality of its people, and we are committed to preserving and enhancing these qualities and bringing back the heart and soul of the former Emeraude Plage, the iconic hotel we’re recreating.
We are not only honoring the past, but also looking towards the future, with a strong commitment to sustainability and innovative hospitality practices. Through collaborative efforts with local residents, local and international environmental experts, cultural advocates, and the St. Barth Collectivité, Émeraude St. Barth aligns with the values and aspirations of the St. Barth community while safeguarding the natural beauty and ecological integrity that make this destination so extraordinary.

By sharing your valuable feedback, questions, and ideas as we work together to create a hotel that reflects the true essence of St. Barth, and ensuring it remains a cherished and sustainable destination for generations to come.
